Dakao Sandwiches
About This Spot
Stepping into Dakao Sandwiches along Spring Mountain Road feels like finding a quiet, familiar nook where the heartbeat of Vietnamese street food pulses steadily but without any rush. The steady flow of customers — from early risers grabbing breakfast sandwiches to longtime regulars ordering their lunchtime favorites — lends the space a warm, purposeful rhythm. It’s far from fancy, but there’s a simple honesty in the laid-back vibe that invites you to slow down just enough to savor a good meal.
This unassuming sandwich shop carries an unpretentious charm, where the scents of freshly baked bread and aromatic herbs mingle with the hum of soft conversations. The team moves with practiced ease, serving classic banh mi varieties each made with thoughtful care: crusty yet soft French-style baguettes filled with savory meats, fresh vegetables, and a delicate smear of house-made pâté, lending subtle richness to every bite.
What makes the experience here linger isn’t just the well-balanced flavors but the sense of a craft rooted in tradition and community. Whether you’re savoring a spicy pork sandwich or warming up with a bowl of Vietnamese noodle soup, there’s a comfortable familiarity in the straightforwardness — the kind that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled upon one of those little gems locals swear by.
Beyond the banh mi, small touches like silky Hong Kong-style milk tea or a crispy banana fritter reveal a layered approach to Vietnamese flavors. The casual atmosphere encourages quick yet unhurried meals, where the focus is always on the food’s freshness and the experience’s subtle human connections — from the friendly staff who recognize regulars to the modest prices that keep it accessible.
Dakao Sandwiches isn’t a destination for spectacle, but rather for those quiet moments of discovery and appreciation. It’s where you come for honest food, a welcoming pace, and that warm, lived-in feeling of a place that has quietly earned its place in the neighborhood’s fabric.

Came to this Vietnamese sandwich shop that was recommended from a Vietnamese friend and he was absolutely right. This place is the real deal and the sandwiches are fresh and most importantly they put pate on some of the sandwiches which is definitely a must when it comes to Vietnamese “Bahn mi”…. I got two sandwiches and it was seven dollars each so I got out of there for about $16 including tip. I love the baguettes. I love the meat inside and I love the balance and texture and I will definitely be back so thank you thank you thank you and great job…:)

My husband and I love banh mi sandwiches, and every time we find a good restaurant, we have to stop. We arrived at Dakao around 9ish in the morning on a weekday, and while we had a pretty large order, we didn't wait to long. We ordered a 1, 2, 5, 6,and 12, doughnuts, sesame balls, and Vietnamese iced coffee. This place was delicious, and the gentleman that took our order was nice and fast in getting to everyone's orders. The sandwiches were great, and we ended up leaving with about 7 sandwiches.

I haven't had a lot of real banh mi sandwiches at this point in my life, but Dakao really impressed me! Maybe a little light on the amount of filling inside, but the quality is there and the bread is OMFG perfect! 1000% worth it for the money too at around $7 per sandwich!

It’s very affordable Vietnamese sandwich. The bread is very soft. I got #5. Next time I will try meatballs. Delicious

They make it fast! Recommend the $6.47 Banh Mi Thit (Pork) and their $2.50 fried banana. No fuss, local Vietnamese banh mi fast food shop, so we weren't expecting much. Depending on when they sellout, they can close earlier. So I'd recommend calling if you plan to visit late afternoon or evening. For SoCal banh mi loves, this place is a 3.5 star for being decent. For Vegas, it's a 4 star. Woot woot! Finally a place that is better than my disgruntled local picks...like places that taste like American potato salad, or Lees Sandwiches (A banh mi chain I never thought I'd ever need to ever buy a banh mi again. But that was my SoCal life thinking. Vegas life with the banh mi scene is a desperate situation). Staff suggested both #1 House and #2 Thit. Their diakon and carrots are not sweetened or even overly sweetened like many other places. $6.47 #1. House Special Bun Mi (cold cut style). I love cold cuts but one isn't for me. $6.47 #6 Bun Mi Thit (pork) is probably the recommended pick. $15 Canh Bun (Vietnamese Water Spinach Noodle Soup). Simple, and clean. I've never had this before. The soup isn't as think as my 1 experience with Bun Rieu at a different restaurant. The broth here was light, but I didn't really get much seafood infused taste. Nonetheless, I would reorder this again if craving comfort night soup. Takeout to heat at home, or eat there. $2.50 Fried Banana. Yum! You'd think it'd be soggy or spongy but it wasn't. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It wasn't overly sweet either. I may be interested to try next time -- $11 Chao Long (Pork Offal Congee). $6.47 #6 Bun Mi Thit (pork) to confirm if consistency is still the same. $2.50 Fried Banana again because I love pastry like desserts. This place reminds me of typical casual take out Vietnamese food like banh mi, fried snacks, and quick food to go. The staff speaks English. Takes credit card. 2 small tables here but it's more of a takeout.

I was on the hunt for the best Banh Mi in Vegas and this place came highly recommended. A bit of a whole in the wall and the menu is JUST banh mi - both good signs in my book. Tried the steak (they were out of grilled pork, fair as they closed in less than an hour). I wish the bread maybe was warm, but biggest issue was steak had a lot of grissle. Otherwise pretty good Banh Mi overall.
